Packaging & Grading Guide
Central Wi. Produce Auction requires
- All produce to be packed in NEW produce boxes
- Each Box labeled with Grower # and pack date
- All produce must be fresh picked & clean
Asparagus - 3/4 to 1 lb. bunches packed in 1/2 bu. box
Broccoli - Pack in bu. or 1/2 bu. box
Cabbage - Pack in cabbage box, bu. box or 24" bin
Cauliflower - Pack in cauliflower box, bu. box, or 24" bin, trim leaves and let tied shut
Cantaloupe - Pack in 24" vented bins, pick green, full slip, grade in 3 sizes, sell over ripes separately
Cherry Tomatoes - Pack in 12 pint flat
Cucumbers - Pack in 1/2 bu. box, grade #1 and #2 separately
Eggplants - Pack in 1/2 bu. box or 1 bu. box
Green Beans - Pack in 1/2 bu. or 1 bu. box, pick only straight and young beans
Onions - Pack in 1/2 bu. or 1 bu. box, dry and grade to size
Peas - Pack in 1/2 bu. box, keep out all old pods
Peppers, Sweet - Pack in bu. box, grade to size, XL (45ct.-50ct.), LG (60 ct.-70 ct.), MED (75 ct.-85 ct.)
Peppers, Hot - Pack in 1/2 bu. or pint flats
Potatoes - Pack in 1/2 bu. box, grade to size, sell #2's separately
Pumpkins - Pack in 36" bin or 24" bin, grade to size and quality
Radishes - Tie in bunches, pack in 1/2 bu. box
Raspberries & other small fruits - Pack in 12 pint flat
Red Beets - Tie in bunches, pack in bu. box, laid flat, or topped pack in 1/2 bu. box
Spring Onions - Bunched and packed in 1/2 bu. box
Summer Squash - Pack in 1/2 bu. box, sell only good quality
Strawberries - Pack in 8 quart flat, pick firm, mark variety on tag
Sweet Corn - Pack in Sweet corn bag, 5 dozen per bag
Sweet Potatoes - Pack in 1/2 bu. box grade to size & quality
Tomatoes - Pack in 25 lb. tomato box, grade XL (3 1/4" up), LG (2 7/8" to 3 1/4"), MED (2 1/2" to 2 3/4"), SMALL (2 1/2" and smaller)
Winter Squash - Pack in bu. box or 24" bin, grade to quality
Watermelon - Pack in 24" bin, grade to size 45 ct., 60 ct., 80 ct.
